GROWLER STADIUM

Make sure to check out our gourmet concession stands next time you visit!

NFL Green Initiative

The NFL has tried to increase awareness of and reduce waste. The Portland Growlers have decided to have a closed stadium as opposed to open air in order to collect roof water. A single inch of water falling onto a 1,000 square feet of roof will create 600 gallons of rainwater. The roof on our stadium is 624,000 square feet.

With an average annual rainfall of 37 inches we will gather

13,852,800 gallons of rainwater on an average year.

There are many benefits of rainwater. The stadium will use the water for the restrooms, and have several million gallons leftover. To pull this off we've created a system that requires a large reservoir tank underneath the stadium that holds 1.5 million gallons (about 10 swimming pools) of water.

The additional water can be sent out to breweries where it’s processed and made into beer.

The beer you’re drinking could be

right from the Growlers stadium roof!
